The Thomas More College mourns the passing of Dr. Richard Frank Heitmiller and extends its deepest sympathy to his wife Janet. Dr. Heitmiller was a Trustee of the College and served as the Board’s Treasurer during a challenging time.

Dr. Heitmiller was the Finance Chairman at St. Patrick’s Parish in Nashua. He was a devout Catholic and lived near the College. When asked to join the Board as a Trustee, he didn’t hesitate for the chance to lend his business expertise to support the College’s mission.

The role of Treasurer requires time, attention to detail, good communication, and expertise to keep the finances orderly. Dr. Heitmiller exemplified all of these traits. The College was blessed to have him especially at a time when his experience was critically needed.

“Dr. Heitmiller assisted the College tremendously,” said Patrick Monaghan, the Board Chairman. “He was very truthful and direct when reporting to the Board even when the reality was difficult to hear, but he didn’t shy from a challenge or hard work. We are grateful for his service.”

“Richard was a colleague on the Board, but more importantly he was a dear friend,” said Maureen Mooney ‘97, Trustee and Board Secretary. “Richard was motivated by his strong Catholic faith and that led him to serve the College. As a result of his putting faith into action, many students, faculty, and alumni benefited from his time on the Board.”

Trustees are often unassuming for all that they do and contribute. It is only proper that the Board of Trustees extends to Richard’s family—on his birthday October 2 the Feast of the Guardian Angels—a heartfelt COMMENDATION for his service to the College. Rest in Peace, Richard Heitmiller.
