Art Teacher, Part-time

Chesterton Academy of Our Lady of Victory, a Catholic, classical high school, seeks a dynamic art teacher with a background in the liberal arts to teach its 9th through 11th grade art classes beginning in fall 2021.

OLV seeks a part-time art teacher whose love of art is matched by their love of teaching and a desire to help inspire and form students and serve their families in forming life-long disciples of Christ. Teachers must have a passion for a Catholic liberal arts education, and must be able to lead a dialectically driven classroom. The arts play a crucial integrating role in the Chesterton Academy curriculum blending elements of reason and faith.

The preferred candidate will be able to teach both art history and studio art. The teacher must be able to introduce students to the basic concepts of representative drawing, that is, careful and systematic observation of the physical world, followed by the faithful translation of those observations into the visual language of drawing in various media.

Teachers are expected to demonstrate teaching ability, content excellence, and classroom excellence. The candidate must be a practicing Catholic and willing to take the Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium. Candidates ideally have previous teaching experience, demonstrate excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

The position is part-time, beginning August 1, 2021, with a competitive salary based on experience. Math and Science Teacher, Part-time

Chesterton Academy of Our Lady of Victory, an independent, Catholic, classical high school in south metro Denver, seeks a dynamic teacher with a background in the liberal arts to teach Math and Science. We seek a versatile teacher whose love of science and math is matched by their love of teaching and forming high school students in the Catholic faith.

The 2021-2022 academic year will have 9th through 11th grades at the school. As such, the selected candidate will teach some of the following classes in Science: Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry; and in Math: Euclid’s Elements, Analytical Geometry, Algebra II/Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus. The candidate should feel comfortable teaching and modeling the scientific method and conducting biology and chemistry labs in the classroom. Subsequent academic years will include the addition of physics, calculus, and statistics with the possibility to focus predominantly in either math or science. Teachers must have a passion for a Catholic liberal arts education, and must be able to lead a dialectically driven classroom.

The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of the connections between mathematics, sciences, fine arts, and the humanities, as well as a passion for inspiring wonder and excellence in students who study mathematics and sciences. An B.S. degree or higher, and teaching experience or training in classical/liberal arts schools is preferred. Exceptional candidates who are transitioning from other careers, or recent college graduates will also be considered. Candidates must demonstrate excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills, and possess a track record of contributing to the vision and mission of an apostolic and educational enterprise. Candidates should demonstrate a proven ability to teach and mentor students and profess fidelity to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church.

The position is part-time beginning August 1, 2021, with options to teach Math or Science depending on the candidate. Salary is based on experience.
