Thomas More College is one of only twenty-four surveyed institutions nationwide to earn an “A” rating in the 2021–22 American Council of Trustees and Alumni (ACTA) What Will They Learn?® survey. TMC’s rigorous liberal arts curriculum satisfied all of ACTA’s general education requirements, which considers seven core areas (composition, literature, intermediate-level foreign language, U.S. government or history, economics, mathematics, and natural science).
“At many institutions of higher learning, what students can learn is largely determined by a mixture of chance and as yet uninformed choice,” remarked Dean Walter J. Thompson. “At Thomas More College, the four year, integrated program in the liberal arts, humanities, and the various disciplines ensures that all students encounter, and so have the opportunity to learn from, the great masterworks of the Catholic intellectual tradition. Our A rating from ACTA testifies to one facet—and an essential one—of our institution’s strength.”
The College has earned an A rating in every What Will They Learn?® survey since 2012–13.
Additionally, five of the top twenty-four institutions (including TMC) were Newman Guide colleges, in recognition of the objective value of the faith-based liberal arts education offered at these colleges and universities.
