All students participating in the Thomas More College Rome Program successfully departed Rome in advance of the cessation of flights from Italy to the United States, and have returned to their homes.
The College expects all students to observe the State Department and the Centers for Disease Control Guidelines. These can be found at the following link: CDC Coronavirus Info for Travelers Returning Home.
The CDC summarizes its policy as follows:
Take these steps to monitor your health and practice social distancing:
- Take your temperature with a thermometer two times a day and monitor for fever. Also, watch for a cough or trouble breathing;
- Stay home and avoid contact with others. Do not go to work or school for this 14-day period. Discuss your work situation with your employer before returning to work;
- Do not take public transportation, taxis, or ride-shares during the time you are practicing social distancing;
- Avoid crowded places (such as shopping centers and movie theaters) and limit your activities in public;
- Keep your distance from others (about 6 feet or 2 meters).
To this end, the College asks all to observe the following:
- Record your temperature twice a day and keep that in a written log or email form.
- Avoid contact with other College students for 14 days from the time of arrival in the United States. We have asked that Merrimack-based students wait 14 days before meeting with you. We recognize this is difficult, but ask you to observe this policy.
- Send written communication to the Dean of Students and President if you manifest signs of COVID-19.
- Send news to the Dean of your successful completion of 14 days of home-stay.
- Request from the Dean of Students permission to return to campus before you take such action. With this request, you should send your record of temperature.
