The Future of Our Movement: TMC Students Stand for Life

By Cassandra Taylor, Publications Assistant

Every January, Catholics and people of conviction around the country gather and pray for an end to abortion. This year, Jacinta Swope ’28, a Granite State native and one of the leaders of TMC’s More Life Club, spoke at the rally at the New Hampshire March for Life, which was held on January 10, 2026. She focused her speech on one of the three transcendentals: beauty.

“Beauty can transform and strengthen our pro-life stance,” Miss Swope declared during her remarks. She continued, “Children are beautiful…. And when we sacrifice this beauty out of shame, or fear of suffering, or loss of one’s familiar life, we reject one of the most awe-inspiring aspects of man: his desire to sacrifice his life for what is beautiful.”

For Jessica Power, the Regional Coordinator for Students for Life of America, students like Miss Swope are a vital part of the pro-life movement in New England and beyond. “It is important that students are involved in pro-life activism because they are the future of our movement. If they do not continue to stand up for pre-born children, who will?” Ms. Power continued, “Jacinta Swope’s speech at the March brought listeners to tears as she described the beauty of the pre-born child. I am so proud of Jacinta and her commitment to being a young leader for life.”

Later in the month, on January 23, 2026, a group of young men from the College had the honor to serve for the Most Rev. Peter Libasci, Bishop of the Diocese of Manchester, at the Respect Life Mass held in Saint Joseph Cathedral. “Being able to serve for His Excellency was an absolute honor and a privilege,” said Matthew Salafia ’28, who also hails from New Hampshire. “Being asked to serve at the Mass was special for me because it gave me an opportunity to represent Thomas More College in my home diocese.”

“I hope that by showing the young Catholics of Manchester that there are young men nearby who are happy and willing to serve at the altar,” Mr. Salafia reflected, “we inspire the next generation to get involved with their own parishes and proudly partake in the inheritance of their faith.”

As January comes to a close, TMC students—particularly through the efforts of the More Life Club—will continue to pray for an end to abortion and spread the beauty of the pro-life message. “Children are beautiful,” Miss Swope reminded those listening at the March. “Families are beautiful. Life is transcendently beautiful.”
